Forever Angels
Forever Angels started while Amy was living in Tanzania and came across four dying babies in a hospital closet. She was told they were “AIDS orphans”, but what was clear was that they were actually dying from starvation. She couldn’t stand by and watch babies die from starvation, when all it would take to save them, was milk.
She started Forever Angels Baby Home which has cared for 444 babies to date – reuniting 201 with relatives and finding foster and adoptive families for 132.
Over the years, she came to realise that many of the families we support could care for their own children at home, if they had the financial capacity to do it. Maisha Matters was born as a way to prevent child abandonment and keep orphaned babies, at home, with their biological families.
Forever Angels Believe all children should be raised in a loving family.
The two programmes they run are about are family preservation.
Maisha Matters
Supports families to look after their own families with the supply of formula milk, education, setting up small businesses and helping find adequate housing.
Family homes
4 family style homes set up together in a secure compound to care for abandoned or orphaned children aged 0-5 where they are looked after by a Mama and Aunty until reunited with family, adopted or move to another orphanage when 5.
Growing Wild supports this charity due to the age range of the children being similar and Lindsey having been to volunteer twice at Forever Angels in the last 14 years and saw what an amazing job the project did caring for the most needy who without help would die.
